Gerald G. Blanchard
AUBURN – Gerald G. Blanchard of Auburn, sadly passed at hospice house on Nov. 3, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.
He born in Lewiston to the late Julian and Rolande Blanchard on Aug. 31, 1940. He graduated from Edward Little High School where he excelled in sports. He was instrumental with starting the hockey team as well as center for the football team.
After graduation, he did a stint in the U.S. Army, and was employed as a firefighter for the city of Auburn. Then he went into construction, managed a trucking company and drove truck along side of his son. His strong work ethics never allowed him to say he was too old or tired to not be behind that wheel with his last job in his 80s, working for Morin Excavating which always put a smile on his face. This joy was only surpassed by the moments spent with his loved ones.
Gerald is survived by his son, Todd (Patty) Blanchard; grandson, Dylan (Michelle) Blanchard; brother, Paul (Gina) Blanchard, sisters Joanne DuBois, and Anita (Preston) Chapman; his companion, Irene Finch and her family; along with his nephews David and Kevin Chapman and many other nieces and nephews.
Per Gerald’s wishes there will be no memorial service.
