Edwin Joseph Grant II

AUBURN – Edwin Joseph Grant, II, passed away on Nov. 7, 2024, at the age of 90, in Auburn. He was born on August 2, 1934, in New Gloucester, a son of the late Edwin and Lois (Prince) Grant.

Edwin was a man of significant presence, speaking rarely but with impactful words. He was deeply cherished by his family and respected by all who knew him.

Ed proudly served in the US Coast Guard, a testament to his dedication and love for his country. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as an arborist with Reynolds Tree Experts in Auburn, where he dedicated over 30 years of skill and care to the local landscapes.

In his retirement, Ed found joy in traveling across the US and Canada with his longtime companion, Donalda Evans. He was also an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ed is survived by his sons, Edwin C. Grant of Brunswick and Gene and Tebble Grant of Minot; sisters, Maryellen and Glenn Allen of Sabattus and Peggy and Moe Poirier of Lewiston, brothers, Bob Prince of Ocala, Fla., and George and Charlotte Rancourt of Sabattus. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Rancourt and Edwin J. Grant, stepmother Myrtie Grant; and sister Dottie Grant and sister-in-law Edna Prince.

Ed’s voice may have been reserved, but his actions and the love he shared with his family and friends spoke volumes, leaving a lasting legacy of warmth and integrity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus on Saturday Nov. 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Albert & Burpee Funeral Home & Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 782-7201.
