BUCKFIELD – Paul Smith passed away peacefully at the Hospice House on Monday Nov. 18, 2024.
He had fought a courageous battle with two cancers and spent the last six weeks in the hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1939 in Lewiston, Maine and lived in various towns before moving to Buckfield, in 8th grade.
He graduated from Buckfield High School in 1957.
He proudly served his country in the US Airforce for four years.
In 1963 he married Shirley Warren and moved to Bath, Maine.
He received an electrician apprenticeship at Bath Iron Works Naval Shipyard in 1967.
The family moved to Chicago in 1967 and he graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in 1970.
Upon returning to Maine he started Yankee Electric.
Paul and Shirley and their family had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and were involved in a number of churches and ministries.
Paul and his family, were one of the families, that helped to start the Faith Bible Chapel Church in Buckfield. The church met in their home for four years.
Paul and Shirley went to Russia as missionaries for four years.
Paul is survived by his wife and his sisters, Dale Jack, Cheryl Smith and Mary DeoJay.
Paul is survived by his children, Peter Smith and wife Jule, Nathan Smith and wife Robin and Bethany Hooper and husband Randy. Including six grandchildren, Levi and Isaiah Hooper, Nicholas and Madison Smith, Noah and Aaron Smith.
The family would like to thank CMMC for all they did to help our father and we thank the Hospice House for taking great care of our father.

The funeral will be held on Saturday November 23, at the East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Avenue, East Auburn, Maine. Visitation at 10 a.m., funeral 11 a.m., a meal will follow at the church.
Possible, afternoon graveside at 2 p.m., at the Damon Cemetery, on North Buckfield Road, Buckfield, Maine 04220. If it does work out, it will be announced at the funeral.
