HARRISON — Andrew Harris will present “Jolabokaflod-An Uplifting Holiday Tradition” on Monday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at Harrison Village Library.
Jólabókaflóð, or “Yule Book Flood,” originated in Iceland during World War II when foreign imports were restricted, but paper was cheap. Iceland’s population could not support a year-round publishing industry, so the market was flooded with books at the end of the year. Recently, the custom of exchanging books on Christmas Eve and then spending the evening reading has spread globally.
Join us in the company of British actor and performer Andrew Harris, as he reads for your enjoyment some familiar and some not-so-familiar festive stories. This special event at Harrison Village Library will fill your heart with holiday spirits and family memories. This program is free and open to the public. Light holiday refreshments will be served.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
