Andrea Bennett

GRAY – Our beloved mother, Nana, and great-grandmother, Andrea Bennett, passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2024, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 83. Andrea battled Alzheimer’s the past five years during which she was patiently and tenderly cared for by her son Chris, daughter-in-law, Beth, and entire family.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 31, 1940 to the late George and Elizabeth Bennett, she grew up in Bronxville, N.Y. with her sister, Christine Otten, and two brothers, Doug and Peter Bennett. Andrea attended the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School, worked a stint in New York City, N.Y., and later amused family with stories of delivering messages wearing roller skates in the large office complex.

She moved to Maryland where she raised her four children, Skip (55), Chris (54), Eric (predeceased at 18), and Pam (49), and then moved to Bethel in 1987 where she worked at Sunday River Ski Resort in retail until her retirement.

Andrea had the gift of hospitality and a love language of giving. Her laughter, smile and quick wit will be greatly missed. She was a nurturer who particularly loved babies and animals. She was also a very classy lady who cared that manners, etiquette and proper grammar were observed and anything one did was to be done well.

Andrea loved music and enjoyed singing for years with the Sweet Adelines choral group. She was heavily involved at the Bethel Alliance Church since 1987 and served in various ministry roles, taught Sunday School, served as secretary on the board for years, and was instrumental in the early years of the church’s monthly community supper.

Andrea was also a devoted Nana to 11 grandchildren; a great-grandmother to nine; and is survived by her sister, Christine Otten and brother, Doug Bennett.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Alliance Church at 251 Walkers Mill Rd. (Route 26) in Bethel.
