MECHANIC FALLS – Nelson R. Peters, 88, of Mechanic Falls and Greene passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Dec. 4, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1936, in Fort Kent, son of Joseph and Mable

(Pelletier) Peters of Lewiston.

He worked at Armands Body Shop for many years, and then owned his own body shop in Greene, Nel’s Auto Body Shop for over 35 years. He also served in the National Guard from 1953 to 1956. He enjoyed camping, sailing in his sail boat, flying his plane, and riding his four wheeler with his dear friends.

Nelson is survived by his two daughters, Linda and husband David Bisson of Mexico, Diane and husband Dale Jewell of Mechanic Falls; sister Marie Boucher; dear friends, Sally Aroson, and Linda Labonte. Nelson was blessed with seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and two more due in the spring; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mable and Joseph Peters, sister Rose, Bedette, Dot; brothers, Stanley, Norm, Ben; and great-great grandbaby Alice.
