NEWRY — At Sunday River Resort’s recent 24th annual Santa Sunday, more than 300 skiers and riders dressed as Santa dashed down the Broadway trail in the South Ridge base area. The event raised $9,000 for The River Fund Maine, a local nonprofit.
For their support and holiday spirit, Sunday River provided each Santa with a lift ticket for the day and an extra lift ticket to be used for a future visit before Dec. 24.
The River Fund Maine is dedicated to strengthening the greater Newry-Bethel community by investing in students and leveraging the region’s recreational assets. Since its founding in 2018, it has awarded two $20,000 annual college scholarships, each renewable for up to four years, to local students pursuing higher education.
