Merwyn Whynot

BRUNSWICK – Merwyn Whynot, 99, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 31, 2024, at his residence in Brunswick, formerly of Mexico.

Merwyn was born in Rumford on March 10, 1925, and was a son of Doran and Helen (Hinckley) Whynot. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked in the Rumford Paper Mill and retired in 1986.

Merwyn was married in West Paris on Oct. 8, 1950, to Florence Andrews Whynot who died on Oct. 8, 2022. Together they celebrated 72 years of marriage and raised four children.

Survivors include his daughters Eileen, Janet and husband Bruce, his sons Thomas and wife Lisa, and Phil and life partner Tammy; grandchildren, Darcie, Jared and wife Tia, Stacy and husband Greg, Christina and husband Byron, Colby and wife Alysia and Jill and husband Logan; and eight great-grandchildren.

No service per his request, burial of Merwyn and Florence will be during warm weather.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader and Son Funeral Home, Rumford.
