Gail E. (LaBelle) Hatch

LIVERMORE FALLS – On Jan. 6, 2025, Gail E. (LaBelle) Hatch passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Gail was born in Lewiston on Oct. 5, 1949, daughter of Joseph H. LaBelle and Ella M. (Norris) Wilkins. Gail was educated in Livermore Falls schools; plus Gray’s School of Business secretarial studies; completed paralegal courses and was a notary public for many years. Gail was secretary/treasurer of Strickland Cemetery Association. She had various life experiences with employment opportunities – shoe shops, call centers, an assistant manager at a convenience store, just to name a few. She enjoyed all her work experiences and gained many lifelong friends.

Gail said the most important job she ever had was that of a mom, grandmother “Nanna” and great-grandmother “Gram”. She cherished the time that she could spend with her family, whether sitting and having coffee and talking, having everyone or anyone to eat at her home for a meal or just hanging out. Many, many memories were made, shared, and hopefully will be passed on.

She managed to bring sunshine wherever she went. She also would listen for hours on end to anyone who needed her “ear”. Also, if any advice was asked for, she didn’t hold back her thoughts – always in the best interests of the person asking for that advice.

She loved to get away and spend time with cousin, Rachel, her “Thelma” to Rachel’s “Louise”. The adventures were endless with many memories to reflect on such as heading Downeast and stopping, backing up, and turning around to get a good picture. It would take double, sometimes triple the hours to get to a destination.

The Greatest Loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family ties and moments together were always a priority.

Gail leaves her mother, Ella Wilkins of Livermore Falls; sister, Elaine Buckley of Leeds, sister, Christine (Tom) Mitchell of Fayette, sister, Gloria “Pam” (Vinnie) Diaz of Livermore, sister, Doreen Von Aesch of Chesterville, sister, Glenda Amburg, brother, James (Kirstie) Wilkins of Livermore Falls; son, Todd (Tammy) Poulin, son, James (Debra) Poulin, son, Ryan (Laurie) Hatch; granddaughter, Shayla Crewse, granddaughter, Jami (Austin) McLeod, granddaughter, Margaret “Maggie” Ella Poulin, granddaughter, Gabriella “Gabby” Gail Hatch, granddaughter, Saraya Gordon, grandson, Braydin Gordon; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Crewse, Ethan Crewse, Kira Crewse, Ariella McLeod, Alayna McLeod; as well as many extended family and friends.

Gail was predeceased by her father, Joseph H. LaBelle, stepfather, C. Thurlow Wilkins; husband, James E. Poulin Sr. (father of Todd J. and James E. Poulin, Jr.); former husband, Gary E. Hatch (father of Sheri Jean and Ryan G. Hatch); daughter, Sheri Jean Hatch; sister, Darlene Bailey, brothers William, Rodney, Michael, Leroy Bailey and Clifton Amburg; as well as many cousins; aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held in the spring at Strickland Cemetery, 282 Strickland-Ferry Rd., Livermore Falls. Arrangements are under the care of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Services, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, where memories, photos, and condolences may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
