Philip Dale Perkins

OXFORD – Philip Dale Perkins, 69, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at the VA Togus Springs Hospice surrounded by his family on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. Philip was born on Aug. 5, 1955 in Cornville.

Philip left high school and went right into the Army to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Louise Perkins (Hayden) on April 23, 1972. Philip was immensely proud that he and Louise were going to celebrate 53 years of marriage this April. Philip and Louise had two children, Jessica and William. Philip became the guardian of John Simoneau and raised him as his son after John’s biological dad passed away from cancer.

Philip and his son, Willie, built his own home in Oxford from the ground up using the wood from his property. Philip was a hard worker working many trades until he decided to work for himself, starting his own business, Always Tuned. Philip could fix anything from tractors, trucks, millwright work, and he was an amazing mechanic.

After retiring, Philip enjoyed going on service calls with his son who has his own road service business, Chilly’s Mobile Truck and Repair. Philip enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his dog Gibbs, a cock-a -poo, which he brought everywhere. Philip was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #150 of Mechanic Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Perkins of Oxford; daughter, Jessica Dumais and her fiancé Michael Artzer of Leeds; grandson, Devin Dumais of Leeds; granddaughter, Alicia Albert of Portland; great-granddaughter, Noelle Albert of Portland; son, William Perkins and his wife Kristie Perkins of Paris; grandson, Preston Perkins; and a granddaughter, Chloe Perkins, of Paris; Jonathan Simoneau of Oxford, whom he was the guardian; brother, Gerald Perkins; and sister, Sheila Fitzmaurice.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Kenneth and Eurline Perkins; and his brother, Raymond Perkins.

There will be a celebration of life in Philip’s honor on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, from 1-4 p.m., at the American Legion Post #150, 41 Elm Street in Mechanic Falls. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 26 W Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.
