Robert “Bob” T. Rundstrom Sr.
CLINTON – Robert “Bob” T. Rundstrom Sr.,78, was welcomed by his Lord and Savior on Jan. 12, 2025, surrounded by his family and the love he showed the world.
Born in Lewiston, Jan. 29, 1946, Bob spent most of his life in Greene, graduating from Edward Little High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving proudly in the Vietnam War from 1964-1967.
He married Kathryn E. (Merrill) Thompson on July 3, 1989, raising a family prior to her passing in 2006.
Later in life he moved to Clinton to be close to his youngest daughter Jessica, making many new friends he considered family.
With a passion for helping others, Bob spent most of his life in public service. He served 25 years with the Lewiston Fire Department, holding the rank of Deputy Chief, and retiring in 2001 as a Lieutenant. He volunteered with the Greene Fire Deptment, was a Reserve with the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Dept and a Dispatcher with Lewiston/Auburn 911.
In his retirement Bob worked for Circle K, where he enjoyed interacting with customers, making many friends along the way. Bob devoted his life to the saving of others, and in his final days he became a saver of souls. In his final years, Bob achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a Pastor, sharing the word of God with many while pastoring at Greene Christian Community Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Woodfort Rundstrom and Louise (Foster) Merrick, wife Kathryn, sister Bernice “Bunny” Maddox and brother Alred.
Bob leaves sisters, Nancy (Snookie) Marston of Washburn, Thelma True and partner Larry Clowes of West Gardiner; brothers, Dennis (Trudy) Merrick Sr. of Monticello, Constance (Cindy) Merrick Jr. of North Carolina, Marshal (Regina) Merrick of Greene; daughters, Laura (Donald) Bradman of Lewiston, Sarah (Donald) Stevens of Leeds, Jessica (Matthew) Gyles of Clinton, Kristen (Elizabeth) Thompson of Monmouth, Linda of Turner and Angel of Lewiston; Son, Robert Jr. of Turner; grandchildren, Damian (Elaine) Dunlay, Katelyn and Kara-Lynn Valliere; Benjamin, Kathryn, and Audrey Stevens; Connor Fox and Amelia Gyles; Brenton and Alyssa Thompson; Amanda Gresham; Cody Varnell. Five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A public memorial will be held at New Beginnings Church of God, 392 Main St., Waterville on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. A private reception will be held after the service.
