Constance Joyce Dion-Poulin

LEWISTON – Constance Joyce Dion-Poulin, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2025.

Constance was born on Feb. 2, 1936, to Wilfred and Annette (Morin) Vallerand, of Auburn. She was the eldest of two children and was preceded in death by her sister, Aline Poliquin.

A proud graduate of St. Dominic High School in Lewiston (class of 1954), Constance married the late Normand J. Dion in 1956. Together, Connie and Normand had three children and built a life filled with joy, adventure, and love. In her early years as a housewife and mother, she hand-sewed shoes for a local shoe company, labeled bags for Country Kitchen Bakeries, and co-managed the Pineland Motel with Normand. Later, she dedicated many years to the City of Lewiston Housing Authority and HUD, helping countless low-income families find homes. Normand passed away from cancer in 1990.

Connie later met and married Normand Poulin of Lewiston, a former police captain and city counselor who was also widowed. Married in 1994, they loved their time together enjoying traveling and visiting family, spending summers in Maine, the annual family gathering at Old Orchard Beach and winters in Boca Raton, Fla., with their snowbird friends.

Constance’s life was marked by love, hard work, and service. She was a caring wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Her radiant smile and lovely personality left a lasting impact on everyone she met, and she was fondly called “Sweet Connie.”

Constance’s memory will forever be treasured by her beloved children, Andy Dion and his wife Rita of Boca Raton, Fla., Mark Dion and his wife Kendra of Palmyra, Pa., and Diane Daigle and her husband Mark of Manchester. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Carol Roberts of Boca Raton, Fla., Norm Poulin Jr. and his wife Leslie of South Portland, Mark Poulin and his wife Carrie of Montreal, Canada, Linda and her spouse Mike Bush of Evansville, Ind., Paul Poulin and his wife Cindy of Newtown Square, Pa., and Diane and her husband Mike Halstead of Glen Allen, Va. Additionally, she is remembered by her many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends.

The Dion and Poulin families extend their deepest gratitude for the support, prayers, and love during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion provide great comfort.
