Ruth C. Verrill

POLAND – Ruth C. Verrill passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of Jan. 15, 2025. Ruth was born Jan. 9, 1935. in Lewiston to Harold G. and E. Viola (Everett) Lothrop. She graduated in 1952 from Mechanic Falls High School and married her high school sweetheart, Osmond C. Verrill, Nov. 2nd of the same year.

She worked in insurance at Dunlap Agency for 12 years, for three years at Job Corp at Poland Spring Inn, 31 years for Dr. Harold Bartlett, D.D.S., and two years for D. James Weigand, D.D.S., before retiring in 1999.

She was a member of Dwinal Chapter OES 428. Ruth loved the outdoors, and had many good times at the family camp in Stoneham, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word games, and was an absolute card shark.

She was predeceased by her parents; three siblings, Earl Lothrop, Fred Lothrop, and Arlene LeBlanc, and husband of 68 years, Osmond Verrill.

She is survived by her children, Steven Verrill (Susanne), Thomas Verrill (Lorrie), and Susan Jordan; grandchildren, Jacob Verrill (Chrissy Lenahan), Kimberly Verrill, Lacy Rechisky (Ben), Jessica Bosse (Jeff), and Amy Matthews (Brad); great-grandchildren, Lucas and Riley Verrill, Gavin and Gabby Lenahan, Chloe and Sophie Bosse, and Wyatt Rechisky; sisters Louise Roberts, Diane Cordell, and Nancy Pratt-Knowlton, her brother Roger Lothrop (Katherine); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls with a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
