Lorraine Joanne Lemay

VINTON, Iowa – Lorraine Joanne Lemay, 89, peacefully made her heavenly journey on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Lorraine was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Lewiston, the daughter of Florian and Albia Pare’.

Lorraine found much joy in her doll collection, cooking for family get togethers at our childhood home, crocheting, knitting, felting, and sharing her vast knowledge with her children. She was always willing to lend a hand and took much pride in her many skills.

Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory are her children: Thomas Barbay (Michelle) of Wheatland, Mo., Patricia Melanson (Wane) of Otisfield, Don Barbay (Ann)of Lisbon, Janet Robinson of Jacksonville, N.C., Elizabeth Barr (Donald) of Vinton, Iowa and Christopher Barbay (Susan) of Wales; brothers and sisters: Norman Pare’ (Jackie), Rena Boudreault, Sandra Rodrigue (Nelson); her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Albia Pare’; husband, Thomas Lemay; sons, Tyrone Barbay and Mark Barbay; siblings, Jeannette Latourneau, Florian Pare Jr., and Sonia Rodrigue; granddaughter, Brittany Melanson; and grandson, Nathanial Barbay.

Lorraine’s family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at the Vinton Lutheran Home for the love and wonderful care Lorraine received.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
