Rosemarie V. Goodwin

LEWISTON – Rosemarie V. Goodwin, 81, of 94 Hogan Rd., Lewiston, died at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, following a long illness.

Born in Lewiston on March 5, 1943, she was the daughter of Henry and Irene Despres Levesque. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ‘61, and in 1965 received a bachelor’s degree in education from University of Maine Gorham. A longtime member of the National Education Association, she was very proud of her years teaching English at Lewiston Middle School.

Rosemarie was a very active member of the American Contract Bridge League, holding multiple positions in the Maine Chapter, as well as directing games in Lewiston and Oxford. She also taught bridge at the Lewiston High School Adult Education program.

Survivors include two children, David Hall and wife Amy of Sanbornton, N.H., and Debra Souther and husband James of Attleboro, Mass., two stepchildren, Timothy Goodwin of Scarborough, and Pamela Goodwin and significant other Theodore Lane Jr., of Dedham; and two brothers, Peter Levesque of North Conway, N.H., and Paul Levesque of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her loving husband and bridge partner, Thomas L. Goodwin, who passed away on June 27, 2023.

Visitation will take place at Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Liturgy of the Word Service beginning at 1 p.m. The service will also be streamed live on Rosemarie’s memorial page at http://www.albert-burpee.com.

Interment will be held in the spring at Oak Hill Cemetery in Auburn.
