DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in reply to Barbara in Rumford who had a large amount of fabric to donate (Jan. 30 Sun Spots).

The Oxford Hills Tech School, Fashion Technology Program uses donated fabric to design and create fundraising items as well as to supplement student projects.

Please contact Lori Millett, fashion tech instructor, Oxford Hills Technical School in South Paris at [email protected] or call 743-2995.

ANSWER: I have forwarded your information to Barbara and also wanted to publish your information in the column in the event other readers have fabric to donate to your program. It sounds wonderful! Let us know what happens.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”) at 163 Main St., is offering Sweets for Your Sweetie on Thursday, Feb.13, from 3-7 p.m.

There will be homemade pastries, candies and other treats in festive packaging for sale. People who are shopping for Valentine’s Day will find delicious gifts for that special someone.

The sale will be held in the Conference Room on the main floor of the church, which may be accessed using the ramp from the parking lot or the Main Street door near the large lawn sign. — Carol, Mexico

ANSWER: I love this idea so much. It’s bound to be a very successful fundraiser!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You have been so helpful to so many that I’m hoping for your assistance in getting the word out about something I would like to donate to an appropriate historical nonprofit, an 18th Century “barn loom.”

I will contact as many historical organizations as I can but wanted to add the Sun Spots’ readership to help in locating an organization.

A “barn loom” is a near-room size operation for weaving large pieces of fabric. Students of history will be familiar with them. This one is maple, hand-hewn, mortised and tenoned, so it comes apart easily.

If anyone can suggest a historical organization that would benefit, please drop me a line at [email protected] . — Lew, no town

ANSWER: Let us know when you have found a new home for this artifact, or if you need more help from Sun Spots.
