Pauline D. Grenier
LEWISTON – Pauline D. Grenier, 85, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, with loved ones by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Helena and Marcel Cote of the renowned Cote’s Dairy. Pauline was enormously proud to be known as one of the five Cote girls. She was educated in Lewiston schools and at an early age joined the workforce. She was employed at Woolworth’s, the Aubuchon Mill, the Shapiro Mill, finally retiring from Supreme Slipper.
Pauline’s greatest joys were her family, playing Bingo and miniature golf with friends, the Red Sox and her family’s fur babies. “Memere”, as she was affectionately known, will always be remembered for making friends easily, her kindness, generosity and giving spirit to those in need and her playful heart. She loved volunteering for community organizations and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents; sisters Jeannine Anctil and Gertrude Voisine; son-in-law, David Alexander; her longtime companion, Charlie Thompson; and longtime friends Jeannine Cloutier and Bert Lampron.
She left behind her daughters Claire Grenier of Lewiston and Michelle Alexander of Auburn. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Ashley Alexander; son-in-law, Matt Estes; great-granddaughters Chloe Estes and Sophia Estes all of Hebron; sisters Diane Akers of Litchfield and Lorraine Fillion of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at d’Youville Pavilion and Andwell Hospice Care for their tireless efforts, genuine empathy and well being and comfort, not only for her, but for her family as well. The family also would like to thank long time friends, Yoland Lampron, Gerald “Pop” Vautour, Vince Vautour and Lucy Maheux, lovingly known as her adopted daughter, for always being there when needed.
