Lester A. Williams Jr.

NORWAY – Lester A. Williams Jr., 87, of Norway passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. Lester was born in Plymouth, Mass., on March 1, 1937 to parents Lester A. Williams, Sr. and Edith (West) Williams.

Lester moved to Hebron with the family in 1945 and later attended and graduated from Norway High School. He went on to work as a plumbers helper, and after a few years he obtained his master plumbers license. He then pursued a career in construction with the Cianbro Corporation, working his way up to Job Superintendent, and then to Vice President of Operations (out of the Portland office) until he retired.

He married Barbara Burgess and together they raised three sons, James, Michael, and Bryan.

Lester is survived by his partner of many years Florence (Midge) Weeks of South Paris; his brothers, Lewis Williams and his wife Jane of Hebron; John Williams and his wife Susan of Scarborough; and Lloyd Williams and his wife Pamela of Norway; granddaughter, Dominique (Williams) Rigby her husband Shawn; grandson Brett Williams of Island Falls; great-grandson Elliot of North Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara; his three sons, James, Bryan, and Michael; his brother Peter and his wife Rosalie of Pittsfield; and parents Lester and Edith Williams of Hebron.

Lester was a Shriner for 57 years.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring for family and friends at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley, Maine.
