Robert K. Pacios
LEWISTON – Robert K. Pacios, 100 of Lewiston, died peacefully on Saturday February 15, 2025 at the Andwell Hospice House with his loving family by his side.
Bob was born on August 29, 1924 in Medford Massachusetts, the son of Elmer Pacios and Emma Hernon Pacios. He was raised there with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He was a scholar athlete at Medford High School graduating in 1942. He excelled in both Track and Football.
He then attended the Huntington School for Boys, leaving prior to graduation having been drafted into the military.
Bob served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. He joined Company A of the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment on August 19, 1944. He rose to become the 2nd Platoon’s Platoon Sergeant. He fought through the Siegfried Line and the Battle of the Bulge where he was seriously wounded in January 1945. He remained active throughout his life with fellow Company A members. He cherished the reunions with the many family members of Company A Veterans.
Bob returned home to the love of his life, Sylvia Lothrop Pacios, who he had married on April 13, 1944 prior to his deployment. They were married for 69 wonderful years until her death on July 25, 2013.
Bob graduated from Boston University in 1949. He worked for the IRS in Maine from 1950 to 1954. After leaving the IRS, he opened his own firm in Lewiston. He continued to run his firm, Pacios/Rausch, until his retirement in 1999.
Bob was President of many organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and the Maine Society of CPA’s. He was instrumental in creating the Auburn Lewiston Sports Hall of Fame and Museum L/A. He served on the Lewiston Board of Health and Welfare. He volunteered for many years with SCORE. Bob served on the Maine Turnpike Authority Board for 16 years, 7 as the chairman. The Northbound Kennebunk Travel Plaza is named in his honor.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, telling them stories of his life and the many things he experienced. He was an avid fisherman and would take trips to Canada each year. Bob loved to golf and was a member of Martindale Country Club. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his beloved Boston Braves (Atlanta Braves). He was very civic minded, volunteering whenever he could. He also loved to travel with Sylvia. One of their greatest trips was to Europe to follow the path Company A had taken during WWII.
Bob is survived by his brother Richard Pacios, sister Mary Pacios; his son Robert Pacios Jr., daughter Joanne Blais and her husband Michael; four grandchildren, Melissa Pacios, Jennifer Martin and her husband Christopher, Jessica Blais Hanscombe and her fiance Stephen Quattropani, Patrick Blais and his wife Kimberly; and eight great grandchildren, Charles Barton, Camden and Nathan Hanscombe, Hailey and Megan Martin, Addison, Owen and Emma Blais; as well as numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his brother Elmer Pacios and sisters Eleanor Kurz and Marjorie Prescott.
Visitation will be held at The Fortin & Pinette Group Funeral Home located at 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway in Lewiston on Friday February 21, 2025 from 11Am to 1PM, with a service to follow at 1PM.
