ANSWER: This amazing nonprofit now operates a warming center in the former Schemengees Bar & Grille on Lincoln Street. The organization also has an Amazon Wish List here: https://tinyurl.com/5n6h64en.
I am always honored and excited to share area nonprofits’ needs and requests with Sun Spots readers and am especially proud of the work being accomplished by Kaydenz Kitchen. Never hesitate to send me your lists and news. The community is looking for ways to help our neighbors. Give us all something to do to make the world a better place!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in reply to the person looking for a weight loss group (Feb. 14 Sun Spots). I, too, was disappointed when I could no longer find an in-person meeting for WW. However, when I moved to Maine, I found a great TOPS group that meets Tuesday mornings at the Grace Lutheran Church, 757 Summer St. in Auburn.
The weigh-in is from 9:45-10:15 a.m., and the meeting follows. We have lots of fun and enjoy the contests that keep us moving forward to our weight goals. We welcome any new people who would like to see what we’re all about. — Susan, no town
ANSWER: Thank you for responding, Susan. I’m so glad you’ve found something that works for you! I have a friend who goes to a different TOPS location and she has had great success with the program.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone know where I can find the “Cup ‘n Stuff” cup holder for a walker? I saw one in a catalog a while ago but didn’t save it. — No name, no town
ANSWER: You can order one of these soft, expandable cup holders with room for extras like a cellphone and keys from the distributor here: https://jlchildress.com/ or at Walmart or Amazon. The item has a strap that will attach to your walker or stroller and is about $13.
