Christopher L. Chapman
AUBURN – Christopher L. Chapman, known affectionately to friends and family as Chris, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2025, in Auburn, at the age of 68. Born on Sept. 18, 1956, in New York, NY, Chris’s infectious laughter and boundless passion enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Chris grew up in the bustling city of Albany, where he attended Albany High School and graduated with the class of 1975. His youthful spirit and love for life were evident early on and only grew stronger with time. Chris’s career journey was as diverse as his interests. He was a well-known voice in the community, having worked for WLAM radio station, Frank FM radio station, and 99.9 the Wolf radio station. His voice wasn’t just a familiar presence on the airwaves but also a symbol of the joy and enthusiasm he brought to his listeners.
For the past 20 years, Chris also dedicated himself to being a digital specialist at TD Bank, where his colleagues revered him not only for his expertise but also for his ability to bring warmth and humor to the workplace. His passion for his work was paralleled by his love for baseball. Chris was a true baseball fanatic, and his knowledge of the game and its history was surpassed only by his love for the crack of the bat and the cheer of the crowd.
Chris was a loving husband to his wife, Marie Chapman, with whom he shared many cherished moments and built a beautiful life. He was a beacon of love and guidance for his children, Amanda Farris, Matthew Chapman, and Drake Chapman and his grandson, Kai. His role as a father was one he took great pride in, and his legacy of kindness and compassion is evident in the lives of his children.
Though he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Claire Chapman, Chris’s memory will continue to live on through the stories and laughter he leaves behind. He was a man who approached life with a rare combination of humor and heart. His ability to find the funny in the mundane, to approach every challenge with a positive spirit, and to infuse every moment with love made him a cherished soul in the eyes of many.
Chris’s life was a testament to the power of passion. Whether he was discussing his favorite baseball team, sharing anecdotes from his radio days, or delving into the latest digital innovations, he did it with an enthusiasm that was both inspiring and contagious. He was the kind of person who not only brought smiles to the faces of his friends and family but also left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In remembering Chris, we recall a man who was the epitome of kindness, a storyteller who could captivate any audience, and a friend who was always there when you needed him. His laughter will echo in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family.
Chris Chapman’s life was filled with joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to the things and people he loved. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring impact he has made on our lives and the countless memories we hold dear. Chris’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and passion, and it is through these gifts that he will continue to be remembered and cherished.
As the sun sets on Chris’s earthly journey, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched. He was a one-of-a-kind individual whose memory will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace, Chris—you will forever be in our hearts.
