Harry Raeburn who is coaching the Knights of Columbus minstrels to be presented at Lewiston City Hall on Tuesday evening, says the show has gone together in a remarkable way, and he feels confident that Lewiston and Auburn are going to see something bordering on the professional when the Knights “do their stuff”.
There will be lots of song and fun, and many of the voices are those of talented soloists here. The program has all the new songs; in fact Harry says “Everything is A-1.” The scenery and general stage effects will be especially attractive as well as the costuming.
After the performance there will be dancing with music by a popular local orchestra.

The twelve children of Mr. and Mrs. Alcime Madore of Old Lisbon Road, Lewiston, honored them at a party last Saturday evening given in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was held at the Maplewood Inn in Lisbon where gold decorations, including the appropriate numerals, were used. Mrs. Lucille Gervais supervised the guest book.
Mrs. Madore was presented a corsage of white carnations with gold accents and Mr. Madore received a boutonniere. They also received a money tree and numerous other gifts.
A buffet luncheon was served including a tiered anniversary cake topped with the numerals “50” in a heart and a bride and groom.
Musical entertainment was provided by three members of the family, Richard Obie on the organ; Marcel Obie, trumpet; and Paul Obie, drums.

Paul B. Frederic, professor of geography at the University of Maine at Farmington, knows a challenge when he sees one.
He competed and won first place at the 2000 Mock Geography Bee in Washington, D.C., from January 13-15. The bee was part of the annual meeting of the State Geography Alliance Coordinators and was hosted by the National Geographic Society.
Frederic has been one of the co-ordinators for the Maine chapter for the last three years.
The bee format involved a written test involving 70 questions and the top five scorers were selected to go on stage. Then there was a series of oral questions to determine the winner.
The final question was, “What is the name of the type of river which runs through a humid or desert area?” “Exotic River” was the answer that captured Frederic the first place position.
The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
