B. Jeanne Davis
SUBLIMITY, Ore. – It is with great sadness that we share that our beloved Mom, B. Jeanne Davis, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Dec. 22, 2024 at the age of 88.
She was born in New York City, N.Y. and grew up moving to where her father’s work took their family.
In 1954, she met and married Richmond “Skip” Davis, and they moved to Hanover where they started a family. Some of Mom’s fondest memories of her life were in Maine where she put her heart and soul into loving and raising her family on “The Farm” in Hanover. Words will never be enough to express our gratitude for her devotion to our family by laying the foundation of faith in God, love and fortitude by her example.
She was a magnificent mom, homemaker and an excellent cook (her stuffing, meatballs and meatloaf will always be favorites~just to name a few). She was all of 5’2”, but she was mighty in everything she did from raising three lively kids, orphaned raccoons and countless other animals (her favorite being Siamese cats), to managing a huge farmhouse and always making it shine with welcoming warmth to mastering motorcycle and horseback riding. Her resilience, perspective and perseverance will always be an inspiration. Her friendship, kind heart and hilarious sense of humor were gifts that those who knew her best will always treasure.
Her favorite place was Old Orchard Beach, and she saved diligently every year so she could give her family a two week getaway every summer at Old Orchard where countless memories were made and will be forever cherished in our hearts. Whenever we hear Neil Diamond, Cat Stevens or Bob Seger, we will be transported back in time to the many road trips we shared with Mama in her VW Bug and Dodge Dart and the tunes that carried us along…and whenever we play Scattegories or Scrabble, we will know that if Mama was playing, she would win!
She worked for many years at LaVerdieres in downtown Rumford where she was the bright light that greeted you when you walked through the door. She enjoyed chatting with and helping her customers with whatever they might need. She was a friend to all. She later moved to Oregon where she worked at the local hospital while making her home in Bend, Ore., overlooking the Cascade Mountain Range where she enjoyed her little piece of paradise for many years until she moved to the valley to be closer to family where we were so grateful and blessed to share many fond memories filled with love and laughter over the years.
She is survived by her son, Dale Davis and wife Kathy, daughter, Sharon Davis Olson and husband Jim; five grandchildren, Kasey, Jared, Emily, Stephanie and Kimberlie; four great-grandchildren, Trent, Leona, Weston, Millie …. along with another great-grandchild due in August.
She was predeceased by a son, Jeff W. Davis of Hanover by whom she will be lovingly greeted along with many friends, relatives and extended family in Heaven.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. For those would like to share thoughts of condolence, memories and stories to comfort our family, we have set up an email account for you to do so : [email protected]
