Dean Paul Cyr

LEWISTON – On Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, Dean Paul Cyr, 59, of Lewiston, unexpectedly passed away at his home and entered into his Kingdom of Heaven.

Dean was born on Dec. 16, 1965, at the Van Buren Community Hospital in Van Buren.

Dean was the son of Herbert “Herby” and Jacqueline Cyr. He attended and graduated from Van Buren District Secondary School. It is there he met the love of his life and soulmate. At that time her name was Brenda Roy. They were married on Sept. 4, 1987 at Saint Bruno’s Church in Van Buren.

Dean and Brenda moved to Lewiston where he made his career with 40 years of loyal service to Lepage Bakeries. Dean worked his way from the ground up to department supervisor.

Throughout the year, Dean enjoyed many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, especially his special ice fishing adventures with Brian, and special nights of corn hole with family, billiards with his closest friend, Don DuBois, and summer days by the pool.

Dean’s greatest love was spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughters.

Dean was predeceased by his father, Herby Cyr; and his brother-in-law, Lennie Asselin.

He is survived by his love, Brenda Cyr; son, Chad Cyr, daughter, Chantelle Blackwood (Cyr), son-in-law, Brent Blackwood; three special granddaughters, Avery Moore, Kinsley Moore and Brynley Blackwood; Dean’s mother, Jacqueline Cyr of Van Buren; his brother, Gary Cyr and wife Kim of Hampton Beach, Va., his brother, Kenneth Cyr and wife Diane of Hamlin, his sister, Diane Farrell and husband Brian, the ice fishing buddy of Auburn, and his sister, Denise Asselin of Lewiston. Dean also leaves behind several nieces, nephews; cousins; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation for Dean will take place on Saturday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Fortin and Pinette Group Funeral Home located at 305 Alfred A Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Church.
