Sharon Dionysia Cummings
RUMFORD – Sharon Dionysia Cummings, 77, died Saturday died Feb. 22, 2025, peacefully at her home in Rumford.
Sharon was born in Rumford on April 22, 1947, the daughter of William and Mary (Hand) Kelcourse. She was a graduate of Mexico High School class of 1965 and the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Waterville. Sharon worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Rumford Community Hospital and in her later years worked part-time at Bartash’s. Her big smile and laugh would light up a room.
She loved animals, especially her dogs and horses. Sharon enjoyed the many years of watching her daughter at horse shows and getting involved with her husband and daughter with Team Penning competitions. She spent a lot of summers on Mooselookmeguntic Lake with her husband and children.
She loved to travel to Florida and Las Vegas, the casino was one of her favorite places and was able to play the slots until the last year of her life. Sharon had quite a sweet tooth and loved to bake sweets and homemade breads, her favorite candy was peppermint patties, and she always had a stash. She was also a former member of St. Theresa’s Church Parish Council.
Sharon was married in Mexico on April 27, 1968, to Donald K. Cummings, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include a son, Aaron and his wife Tracey of Rumford, a daughter, Sarah Cummings of Rumford; grandchildren, Samantha Cummings and Katelyn Cummings; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hodgkins, Jack Hodgkins and Mason Hodgkins; sisters Kathleen Roy of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Maureen Gautreau and husband Carroll of Scarborough, Kellie Myles and husband Steve of Buxton, and Brenda Tremblay of Barre, Vt., brothers Timothy Kelcourse and wife Joanne of Mexico and Dannell Kelcourse and wife Twila of Kiowa, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Sarah DeCourcy for the years of exceptional home care provided to Sharon and respite for husband, Donnie and daughter, Sarah.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at St John Cemetery in Rumford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
