Joseph L. Pepin Jr.

RUMFORD – Joseph L. Pepin Jr., 72, passed away at his home on Mar. 5, 2025.

Joe was born in Rumford, Maine, on June 14, 1952, to Joseph Pepin Sr and Ethel (Leavitt) Pepin. He graduated from Rumford High School, Class of 1970. He also attended the University of Maine at Orono. He resided in Lewiston working in the retail industry, until moving back to Rumford in 2017 to be closer to family.

He always looked forward to family “get-togethers” especially to play games and reminisce about the good ol’ times. Many of the reoccurring games were ones he created himself. It was not unusual to hear the same funny stories, but they never got old. Family time was everything to him.

Joe enjoyed sports, especially watching the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and the NY Giants. He was known to play a few rounds of golf, bowled candlepin back in the day and was occasionally seen at harness horse races. He was a fierce competitor.

Joe was predeceased by his parents; and infant brother Steven. He is survived by his sisters Judy Haynes (and husband Edward) of Dixfield, Debra Pepin of Rumford, Denise Marston (and husband Rick) of Rumford, and brother John (and wife Linda) of Rumford; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to share memories of Joseph at http://www.meaderandson.com.

Per Joe’s wishes there are no immediate services scheduled. A family graveside service is to be held in the spring at St. John’s Cemetery in Rumford.
