Michael R. Danforth
LEWISTON – Michael R. Danforth, 74, of Lewiston, passed away at Marshwood Center in Lewiston on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025.
Mike was born on May 26, 1950, in Lewiston, the son of Levi and Rita (Gilroy) Danforth. Michael graduated from Lewiston High School. Mike was a member of St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s Church.
In 1972, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Wood. Through their 52 years of marriage, they took many vacation trips to Aruba, Jamaica, Florida and North Carolina. On a trip to Pensacola, he was thrilled to see his beloved Blue Angels.
At the age of 18, Mike began working for Lewiston Public Works. He received an award for his 50 years of service and holds the record. He retired in 2018. He worked many winter nights, either plowing snow or sanding the streets. He cherished his work with the City of Lewiston and the many “brothas” he made throughout his career.
Mike enjoyed spending time boating and fishing with his friends on Mooselookmeguntic Lake, Sebago Lake and Lake Auburn. There were many pictures taken to prove he really did catch the ‘big’ one.
His favorite football team to watch was The Patriots. He was able to attend many games with his friends and his brother, Wayne.
Mike was always friendly and helpful to all. He had a great sense of humor. He may have repeated the same jokes, but people still got a good laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; their daughter, Jennifer Cormier of Holly Springs, NC; two brothers, Levi Jr. and his wife Venise of Dexter and Wayne and his wife Diane of Fort Myers, Fla.; two granddaughters, Briar and Etta Cormier; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Details regarding services will be announced at a later date.
