Bertha M. Harris

SOUTH PARIS – Bertha M. Harris, 81, a resident of Jay, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.

She was born June 22, 1943, in Wayne, the daughter of Charles L. Stewart and Luella M. (King) Stewart. She received her GED from Livermore Falls High School. She married Clayton Morse, May 27, 1961, at the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls. They enjoyed 42 years together before his passing on Dec. 6, 2003.

She later married Joseph Harris on Aug. 9, 2008, and they shared six years together before his passing on Dec. 29, 2014.

Bertha worked at the local shoe shops. Bertha enjoyed playing bingo, looking at the beautiful foliage near the riverside in the fall, but above all else, Bertha loved her family and hosting family gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Clayton Morse Jr., and wife Tracy of Monmouth, and daughter Kim Townsend of Jay; seven grandchildren Marcy Smalley, Brooke Lukes, Courtney Miniutti, Adriana Miniutti, Mathew Hartman, Forrest Morse and Tiffany Weston; and her great-grandson Flynn Carter; her sisters Sandra Robinson of Livermore Falls, Madeline Heikkinen and husband Greg of Clearwater, Fla., and her brother, Jimmy Stewart of Sabattus.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Luella Stewart; her husbands, Clayton Morse, and Joseph Harris; brother, Everett Stewart, sister, Patty Coolidge; son Rick Morse; sisters-in-law Doris Stewart and Brenda Stewart, brothers-in-law Ed Coolidge and Russell Robinson; and most recently and unexpectedly, her daughter Lisa Miniutti.

Her family would like to give a very special thank you to Barbara Jolicoeur for her kindness and friendship to Bertha.
