Leona Imelda (Champagne) Rouleau

LEWISTON – Leona Imelda (Champagne) Rouleau, 100, of Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at her home. She was the wife of the late Cyrille J. Rouleau who passed in April of 1993.

She was born on May 19, 1924 in Lewiston, a daughter of the late Sylvio and Eva (Cote) Champagne. She grew up in Lewiston attending local area schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

Leona was a career seamstress, working in several local textile mills over the years most prominently she spent 27 years at the former Pepperell Manufacturing Company in Lewiston. After retiring, her love of sewing continued as she ran her own seamstress business into her 90s.

She was a communicate of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Leona was very active in the church and was a member of the choir for many years. In her youth she enjoyed knitting and needlework as well as ice skating in Kennedy Park. Leona was a social butterfly and made many friends through her sewing business. She also loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Paul S. Rouleau and his wife Celeste of Sabattus; and her two grandchildren, Kyle Rouleau of Lewiston and Alyssa Rouleau of Harpswell; and several nieces and nephews, especially Diane Cloutier of Lewiston.

She was also the sister of the late Muriel Guerette.

Relative and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, March 18, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at The Basilica of St Peter and Paul Chapel, 122 Ash St., Lewiston. Burial will follow at St Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston.
