Leonard F. Moreau

AUBURN – Leonard F. Moreau, 81, of Litchfield, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Andwell Hospice House in Auburn. He was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Livermore Falls, the son of Frank and Lena (Doiron) Moreau. Leonard was a 1962 graduate of Jay High School and received his bachelor’s in education from UMO in 1967. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was honorably discharged at the rank of CT13; a Cryptologist specializing in interpreting Vietnamese and Vietnamese code. On Aug. 20, 1966, at St. Rose of Lima Church, he married Donna Brown of Livermore Falls. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage before her passing on Oct. 31, 2024. Leonard began his teaching career in 1967 at Brunswick High School, leaving to serve his country from 1969 to 1973, he returned after the service and worked until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Winthrop United Methodist Church, Maine Teachers Association and Foreign Language Association of Maine. He enjoyed golfing, photography, exploring Maine’s lighthouses and traveling with his wife and sons. He is survived by his sons, Richard Moreau and wife Catherine of Lewiston, Scott Moreau and wife Sonia of Bronx, NY, a grandson, Zachary Meert of Livermore Falls, a sister, Francine (Moreau) Belz of Manchester, Maine and a brother Raymond Moreau of Ellsworth, Maine. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 27, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors will be held 10 a.m., Friday March 28th, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
