Philip Leonard Marquis
LEWISTON – Philip Leonard Marquis passed away in his home on Sunday, March 16, 2025, surrounded by his wife and four children.
Phil was born in Houlton on Dec. 18, 1936, the son of Leonard and Viola (Bard) Marquis. He moved to Lewiston at a young age where he attended schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1955.
After graduating, he enlisted in The Air Force, where he served for four years. Returning from duty, he worked as the manager of Bill’s Photo Shop in Auburn for over 50 years.
In 1961, he married Florine (Fraser) Marquis, and together they raised four children. After retiring he spent many volunteer hours helping others at Literacy Volunteers of America and Catholic Charities.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florine; three daughters, Sharon Plante and her husband Tony, Laurie Brooks, Kelly Crockett and her husband Randy, one son, Brian Marquis; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Krystal, Lindsay, Chelsea, Haley, Alissa, Sydney, Ben and Kaitlin; and eight great-grandchildren.
Phil was predeceased by his mother, Viola Deshais, father, Leonard Marquis; brother, Richard (Sonny) Marquis, sister, June Fournier, and son-in-law Randy Brooks.
The family would like to thank the staff of Andwell hospice for the compassionate and respectful care they provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 2, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Lewiston. Arrangements by The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
