DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Andwell Hospice Thrift Stores are recruiting volunteers, including for the new Waterville store and the stores in Auburn and Augusta.
Do you have time in your schedule and want to volunteer by giving back to your community with an organization that has an amazing mission?
Would you like to interact with wicked cool people and love everything about thrifting?
If yes, we have just the place for you.
There are volunteer opportunities not only at our Waterville location at 180 Main St., but also at our store in Auburn at 245 Center St. and our store in at 165 Capitol St. in Augusta.
Opportunities include sorting, processing, cleaning and pricing donations.
Volunteers also process clothing and other soft goods by drying, pricing and displaying clothing on the sales floor.
We also need volunteers to work our Square point-of-sale system and be responsible for ringing up items and cash reconciliation. Excellent customer service skills are required for these opportunities.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one four -hour shift each week. Current hours of operation at the Waterville store are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
When we have more volunteers, we plan to extend our hours to include and match the hours at the Auburn and Augusta stores: Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and an additional two hours Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you are interested in joining our team, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support of our organization and volunteers.–Jenny, no town
ANSWER: The Andwell Hospice Thrift Stores provide communities with a wonderful shopping experience with reasonably priced items. Net proceeds go to uninsured and underinsured hospice patients who are under the care of Andwell Health Partners, formerly Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw the letter from someone needing buttons for crafting (Sun Spots, March 18). Does she still need these? I have lost her telephone number.—Kathy, no town
ANSWER: Cecile reported that she had received eight telephone calls and is set. She is using the buttons to make crafts to sell at an upcoming sale at Montello Heights. She was pleased with the response from fellow Sun Spotters.
This note came in from reader Chris, and I believe it is the date for the sale: “Montello Heights is having a Garage Sale on Friday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in our community room.” I’ll get more information when the date is closer.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The First Congregational Church of Andover will be hosting the Annual Birthday Supper on Saturday, April 26, at 5 p.m. The menu includes pot roast, potatoes, carrots, rolls and birthday cakes. Donations will be accepted.
This Annual Birthday Supper has been a tradition for 70 years. There will be a decorated table and a cake for each month of the year. All are welcome.—Trudy, Andover
