Kathryn A. Cutter
AUBURN – Kathryn A. Cutter, 83, passed away on March 20, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on Oct. 17, 1941, in Lewiston, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Lionel and Elizabeth (Pyer) Pombriant and wife of the late David Cutter.
A beloved teacher at Lewiston Middle School for over 25 years, Kathy formed lifelong friendships with her colleagues and students. After her retirement, she remained active; she founded and operated a preschool with her daughter in upstate New York, volunteered at Norlands Living History Center, and served as the president of the Auburn Art Club until her passing. No matter where life took her, Kathy always shared her remarkable talents, organizational skills, ingenuity, and compassion to improve the lives of others.
Kathy was a talented seamstress, knitter and quilter. She was an accomplished cook and baker, frequently trying new recipes to share. She was an avid reader and book collector. She loved to travel and experience new places; but, above all else, Kathy treasured her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren, and each held a special place in her heart. Whether she was browsing The Willows with Steven, perfecting a Buche de Noel recipe with Emma, or talking with Katy about the woes of teaching, she was never happier than when she was with them. She especially loved having the whole family together at Higgins Beach and fondly recalled Fourth of July parades of years past.
Kathryn leaves behind her loving children, Mary Hogan and her husband Bruce, Susan Landry and her husband Daniel, and her grandchildren, Katy and Steven Hogan, and Emma Landry. She is survived by her brother, Paul Pombriant, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years David Cutter and brother James Pombriant.
A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn, on Thursday, July 10, at 10 a.m. There will be a brief visitation at the church prior to the mass and a reception will follow. Details will be announced at the mass.
