Martin W. Marchetti

FARMINGTON – Martin W. Marchetti, “Marty”, 65, of Jay passed away, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Sandy River Center in Farmington, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle of complications due to diabetes. He was born on March 5, 1960, in Farmington, the son of John R. and Anita (Blais) Marchetti. Marty was a 1978 graduate of Jay High School. Through the years he worked as a production worker at International Paper Company at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, a custodian at Leavitt Area High School in Turner, security guard at Otis Paper Mill in Jay and later as a custodian at McDonald’s Restaurant in Jay. Marty was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, member of the St. Rose of Lima Men’s Group and former member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at the Food Cupboard of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls, he also volunteered at the Paper Museum in Livermore Falls, where he was known for his famous meatballs. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, and watching his favorite teams, the Baltimore Orioles, Dallas Cowboys and Boston Bruins. Although he was not a Red Sox fan, he was one of the biggest fans of Jim Rice. He is survived by his sisters, Maureen Martin and husband Michael of Farmington, and Mary-Anne Castonguay and husband Laurier of Jay, his niece, Emily Ashby, his nephews, William, John, Joseph, James and Thomas Martin, and Neil Naples, and numerous, great nieces and great nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, at ST. ROSE OF LIMA CHURCH, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 21, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls.
