BUCKFIELD – Shirley passed away on Sunday April 6, 2025. She was born Nov. 5, 1940 in Buckfield and grew up in East Buckfield on a dairy farm with her parents F. Milton and Verlie Beatrice Warren, and 13 siblings. Shirley graduated from Buckfield High School in 1958 and from Barrington College in Rhode Island in 1962.
In 1963, she married Paul Smith and moved to Bath. Paul and Shirley had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and were involved in a number of churches and ministries. They were missionaries in Russia for four years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul; two brothers, Walter Warren and Fred Warren, and one sister, Geneva Hood.
Shirley is survived by her children, Peter (Julie), Nathan (Robin), and Bethany Hooper (Randy); including six grandchildren, Nicholas and Madison Haines (Jack), Noah and Aaron, and Levi and Isaiah Hooper. Shirley is also survived by eight sisters, Esther Robinson, Beryl Robinson, Christine Hinkley, Geraldine Jewell, Helen Hadley, Pauline Jones (Richard), Kathleen Additon (Abe), and Jacqueline Meggison, and two brothers, Roland Warren (Barbara), and Leon Warren (Donna).
The graveside service will be at 9 a.m. at the Damon Cemetery, Buckfield. A celebration of life will follow, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday April 26, at Faith Bible Chapel, 388 Bryant Rd., Buckfield, ME 04220. A light meal will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to His Hands Support Ministry. Checks can be made out to Faith Bible Chapel, with a note for His Hands Ministry.
