Vernon “Butch” Adams
CANTON – Vernon “Butch” Adams, 74, of Jay, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Canton, following a long illness.
He was born on July 25, 1950, in Skowhegan to Leona (Cochran) DiSotto and Henry DiSotto, Jr. He was a 1969 graduate of Jay High School, he later attended Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Auburn, earning his certification as a Master Electrician. Through the years he worked for Forster Manufacturing in Wilton, International Paper and Verso Paper both at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay.
He married Nancy Sonier on April 17, 1971, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, making their home and raising their daughters in Jay.
He was a member of the International Paper Company Quarter Century Club. He was an avid swimmer and would swim at Wilson Lake, every day from June to September. He also enjoyed gardening, cutting his firewood and playing pickleball.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Adams, of Jay; daughters Lindsey Hopkins and husband Patrick of Jay, and Monica Adams and Mike Hughes of Kittery; two grandchildren, Byron and Annabel Hopkins; and Zetta Wojcik, who was like a sister, of Wilton.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Clifford “Bill” Adams, Floyd “Jimmy” Adams, Jr; and friend, Tom Wojcik.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Interment Birchland Cemetery, East Dixfield Road, in Jay.
