Esther A. Hanscome

MECHANIC FALLS – Esther A. Hanscome, 99, of Mechanic Falls passed away Thursday evening at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in West Minot, Feb. 13, 1926, the daughter of John R. and Clara Leach Harris. She attended Atkison school in West Minot and graduated from Edward Little High School in the class of 1944. Esther worked in area shoe shops. She had been a member of Pleasant Street Baptist Church, but the last few years attended the West Minot Union Church. She was a member of AARP and covenant 50, she enjoyed knitting, cross stitch and bird watching.

She is survived by two sons, Harold, Jr. of Mechanic Falls and Frederick and Tina of Minot; two daughters, Carol Anne Hanscome and Robert Perreault of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and Karen and John Sansoucy of Belchertown, Mass., eight grandchildren; Heidi, Angela, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Catherine, Heather, Nathan and Danielle, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and John Ford of Minot and many nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. -12 p.m., followed by a funeral at 12 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.
