Robert J. Watson
CANTON – Robert J. Watson, 96, passed away on April 7, 2025, at Pinnacle Health and Rehab, where he had been a resident. He was formerly of Rumford.
Robert was born in Rumford, on June 12, 1928, the son of Willard and Clementine (Robichaud) Watson. He worked as a pipe fitter for Oxford Paper Company from 1946 to 1950, served two years as a police man in the Korean War for the U.S. Army and retired as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service located in Rumford. He enjoyed following the Red Sox, traveling, and especially spending the summers camping in Bar Harbor with Joan.
Robert is survived by his daughter Pamela Luce and husband Franz of Dixfield, sons, Robert and wife Debra of Virginia, Thomas and wife Brenda of Washington and John and wife Lori of Washington, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, a sister Marguerite Curato. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Fraser) Watson and a grandson, Bobby Philip Watson.

A graveside service will be held at St. John Cemetery in Rumford at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
