DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know a person under age 18 with a huge heart for animals? Someone who goes above and beyond to help our furry, scaly, and feathered friends? The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society wants to hear their story!

We’re on the lookout for the next Future Hero Award recipient, and we need your help to find them. This special award will be presented at our prestigious Golden Paw Humane Awards on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Is there a child or teen in your life who volunteers their time for animals, collects donations for shelters, educates others about animal welfare, or goes the extra mile to help a creature in need?

If so, don’t keep their amazing efforts a secret. Nominate them for our Future Hero Award by April 30 using this link :

Our event committee will have the heartwarming task of narrowing down the nominations, and later this spring, the community will have the chance to vote for their favorite young hero.

ANSWER: What a fabulous way to bring much-deserved attention to our children and teens who give their time and their hearts to animals. I’ll be reminding our Sun Spots community to take part in this event in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Since the changes with newspaper delivery, I’ve opted for digital newspapers but I do miss my hard copies.

I’ve been an avid newspaper reader since second grade. My mom would get the afternoon paper and what a treat to read the comics after coming home from school.

Living alone now, the paper has been my daily dining companion. I’d read it piecemeal, but I find that with the digital version, I have to take time to sit down and read it as it’s not really a comfy dining companion.

Last Friday I got busy and completely forgot to read it. Since there’s no longer a paper on Saturday, I figured I’d read the Friday paper then. No can do. The site would not allow me, it would just bring me to a TV schedule that comes out on Saturdays. I tried multiple ways but no luck.

If anyone knows the answer to this dilemma, it’s Sun Spots! — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: To get to past editions, click on your current epaper. In the burgundy ribbon across the top, go all the way over to the far right where you’ll see three horizontal lines. Click on that and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on “Archives.” The most recent additions of the paper will pop up. And you’ll also have the option to scroll through past months.

I understand that changes can be unsettling but you’ll get the hang of it all in no time!
