Nicholas Jay Morse Sr.
OXFORD – Nicholas Jay Morse Sr., 71, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born Dec. 31, 1953, in Portsmouth, NH Nick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked for 34 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, eventually serving as hazardous waste manager—a role he took great pride in. Known for his humor, resourcefulness, and deep love for his family, Nick was a fixture in his community and affectionately known as the “unofficial mayor of Oxford.”
In early 2025, Nick was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a devastating and often misunderstood disease.
Nick is survived by his wife, Darcy Morse; his children Susan Nutt and Nicholas Morse Jr., stepdaughter, Angela Perkins; grandchildren, Dakota, Lennox, Sierra, Lily,, and Eli; and brothers, Michael, and Jay Morse. He was predeceased by siblings, Steven, Donna, and Susan Morse.
A celebration of life will be held on July 5, 2025, at his home in Oxford. Arrangements are under the care of Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford. Online condolences may be shared with Nick’s family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
