Richard “Dick” Wiken

SUMNER – Richard “Dick” Wiken, 76, of Sumner, passed into the presence of the Lord on Sunday May 4, 2025, at Maine Health Stephens Hospital in Norway. He was born on Jan. 18, 1949, in Rumford. He grew up in the town of Mexico, graduating from Stephens High School.

On Jan. 19, 1974, he married his sweetheart, Susan Houle. In the coming years they welcomed two wonderful children, Kimberly and Christian into the world. Throughout the years, Dick and Sue were members of the West Sumner Baptist Church (where he taught for many years at the West Sumner Christian school) and are currently members of the Bryant Pond Baptist Church.

He was employed for 25 years by the State of Maine working with special needs adults. He was also a Jack-of-all-trades, working with small engines, lawn care, and property maintenance for many years.

He was a lifetime sports fan, especially of the Red Sox and Nascar. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, loving hunting and mowing, and plowing snow.

He is survived by Sue, his wife of 51 years, his children, Kimberly and Chris, sister Ruth Hadley, and brothers, Rusty, Randy, and Ron, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at the West Sumner Baptist Church on Friday, May 9 with visitation at 11 a.m., and memorial service at 12 p.m., noon, with reception to follow.
