Laura F. Keene
HEBRON – Laura F. Keene, 95, of Buckfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at her daughter’s home.
She was born in Hebron on March 27, 1930, the daughter of Virgil C. and Catherine M. Emery Verrill. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1948, married Donald Keene on Aug. 2, 1949 and had been a homemaker all of her life.
She was a member of the Buckfield Historical Society and the Mountain Grange. She was a great mother and grandmother, driving her grandchildren to swimming lessons, among other things. She was a great cook, especially doughnuts and chop suey. She enjoyed knitting afghans, sweaters and baby stuff. She loved her family and was a kind lady who was never angry.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Donna Coburn of Hebron, son, Grover Keene and his wife Wanda of Buckfield and daughter, Loretta Millett of Buckfield; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law Jane Verrill and Pat Verrill, brother-in-law, Allen Snow; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband.
The family wishes to thank Andwell Health girls and a special cousin, Pauline Obie, for all that they did for Laura.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at Damon Cemetery in Buckfield. Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday evening, May 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
