Dianne Margaret Drottar

LISBON FALLS – Dianne Margaret Drottar, 91, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her loved ones, on May 1, 2025.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1933, to Robert and Margaret (Kacsmar) Whittier in Lewiston.

She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1951. She went on to study business at Auburn Maine School of Commerce. Following that, she worked in the office at the Farnsworth Mill until 1959, when she and Fred bought their house in Lisbon Falls and started their family. After spending 19 years being a homemaker, she chose to go back to work. She was the school secretary at the Marion T. Morse Elementary School. With her strong communication and organizational skills, she made sure that the school ran smoothly. Staff and students alike remember her as being kind, caring, patient and friendly while managing a variety of tasks. After 20 years, she retired in 1998.

On June 21, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Frederick Drottar. They shared nearly 65 wonderful years together, in Lisbon Falls, where they raised their four children.

In 1969, Fred and Dianne bought a pop-up camper and embarked on a cross-country adventure with their kids. They had a memorable seven-week trip visiting many of the lower 48 states and Canada.

She was an avid fisherwoman. Fred and Dianne spent many vacations in the woods of Maine looking for the next hot fishing spot. She enjoyed spending time at their camp on Lake Thompson. She often would be found on the deck with a book in hand, enjoying the sunshine. She also liked family campfires as well as toasting the sunset. She loved cooking and baking, including some family Slovak favorites. They made many memories that they shared with their children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Dianne was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Lisa; and sister, Gertrude.

She leaves behind her sons Frederick “Rick” Drottar and his wife Sophia of Lisbon, Jeffrey Drottar of Westbrook, daughter, Christine Cormier and her husband Scott of Durham; grandson, Matt and wife Jen, grandson, Ryan, grandson, Zachary and wife Jessica, granddaughters Sarah, Lauren and Megan.

This beautiful, kind, quiet and funny woman will be missed by all who knew her.
