Perley D. Shover
LIVERMORE – Perley D. Shover, 88, of Livermore, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 30, 1937, in Irasburg, Vt., the son of Clarence and Esther (Smith) Shover. He was a 1955 graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford. Immediately after graduation Perley enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 20 years as a master electrician from 1955 to 1975. Following his military career, he worked at various companies as a master electrician.
Perley was married on Nov. 21, 1997, to Shirley Hutchins who survives in Livermore. He was a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church and Sub Veterans Club, USS Maine Base United States Submarine Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, computers, electronics and the Red Sox.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shirley Shover; stepdaughters Sharon Heffernan and Natalie Matthews, all of Livermore, stepsons William Piantoni and wife Barbara of Brookville, Mass., John Piantoni of Bryant Pond, and Matthew Piantoni and significant other, Linda Fenderson of Lyman; his brother, Richard Shover and wife Patricia of Winterville, Ga., and his sister, Rachel Leckey and husband James of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Craig, Bryan, Gina, Meagan, Matt Jr., Olivia and Melissa; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his stepson, Daniel Piantoni; brother, Larry Shover; grandson, Paul Matthews; and his nieces Deborah Shover and Kathy Shover-Vattes.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28 at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, Federal Road, in Livermore.
