Diana Rae Churchill
SOUTH PARIS – Diana Rae Churchill, 70, passed away on May 10, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer. She was born on March 14, 1955, daughter of Robert R. and Lillian G. (Patten) Stearns in Lewiston, Maine.
She received her education in the public schools of Norway and South Paris and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1973. She was a faithful homemaker and had many different jobs throughout her life. These included running a daycare, clerking for multiple law offices, and several jobs in the retail/service industry. Most recently she worked for the Child Health Center Preschool in Oxford, a job she loved and thrived in, before retiring in 2021.
She was a devoted woman of faith and a member of South Paris Baptist Church for many years, where she also married her sweetheart, Gary. After her time there she attended Moss Brook Community Church for many years. She loved reading, especially historical novels and biographies. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing and passed several quilts and blankets on to her children and grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and took every opportunity she could to be with them. She loved spending time with family and friends. Also, no summary of her life would be complete without mentioning her appreciation for Elvis. Anyone who knew her knows that she was always talking about the king of rock and roll and reading a new book about his life.
She was preceded in death by her faithful husband Gary W. Churchill, her father, Robert R. Stearns, and sister, Penny Stearns. She is survived by her mother, Lillian Stearns of Norway, children, Nathan Churchill and his wife, Charlene, of Jay, and Kirsten Churchill of South Paris; sister Vickie (Stearns) Durgin and her husband Brian, brother, Dale Stearns, half sister Laurie Crocket; three grandchildren, Austin, Brenden, and Holden Churchill of Jay; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Moss Brook Community Church, 496 High St., South Paris on June 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
