Victoria Bossong, a Cheverus High graduate and a senior at Harvard University, earned a trip to the NCAA track and field championships by finishing second in her 800-meter quarterfinal Saturday at the East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bossong’s time of 2 minutes, 1.83 seconds was fifth fastest among the nine runners from the East who advanced to nationals in Eugene, Oregon, scheduled for June 11-14.

It’s the second straight trip to the NCAA championships for Bossong, who placed 10th last year.

On Thursday, New Hampshire freshman Ruth White of Orono qualified for nationals by finishing among the top 12 in the 10,000 semifinals.

The 10,000 final is Thursday, June 12. Bossong will also race that day in the 800 semifinals.
