Gary Richard Smith

ANDOVER – Gary Richard Smith, 72, passed away on May 24, 2025, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.

Gary was born in Lewiston on July 25, 1952, the son of Richard and Carmen (Charest) Smith. He graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1970. A driven and dedicated entrepreneur, Gary started his legacy, High Tech Fire Protection, in 1986.

Husband, Dad, Brother, Son, Grampy, Uncle and Friend. He was so many things to so many people. Gary is survived and carried on by many who love and admire all that he is and everything he has done – most notably his wife, Brenda (Gyure) Smith, his heart and his strength, who never left his side and never wavered in her care through his fight. His sons, Scott G. Smith (wife Kelly Smith) of Andover, Eric S. Smith (wife Olga Gorbunova) of Orange County, Calif., and Richard Smith (wife Lucille Smith), not only carry on his sense of humor, but also his devotion to family through his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There is no real way to sum up a man who was larger than life. He enjoyed his gin and tonic, savored his stogies, and spoiled his fur babies. Most importantly, he loved and is loved fiercely, was always willing to give of himself, and always lived true to who he was. May we all be so fortunate.
