Axel J. Annis
RUMFORD – Axel J. Annis, 46, died Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his residence in Rumford.
Axel was born in Norway, Maine, on Jan. 2, 1979, and was a son of Scott and Wendy (Piawlock) Annis. He was a graduate of Telstar High School in Bethel. He worked for Earl Tyler Concrete, this was more of an extended family on and off the job.
Axel loved spending time with his children, kayaking with Zoe, hunting and trapping with Leo, goofing around with Ellie and attending their school sporting games and concerts. Axel was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, panning for gold and rockhounding with his friends and family. He had a heart of gold, always helping friends and family. He loved everybody and could not say no to helping anyone. He had a quick wit and was full of life. He always said he was a jack of all trades and master of many, then he would grin and chuckle. He was funny and witty. He lit up a room when he walked in. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his daughters, Zoe Annis and Eliana Annis of Buckfield and a son Leonidas Annis of Buckfield; his parents Scott and Wendy Annis of East Bethel; a brother Jacob Annis of Bethel, a sister Amanda Leighton and her husband Toby, Sr. of Bethel; three nephews, Gavin Annis and Thorn Annis of Rockland, Mass. and Marine Corporal Andrew Leighton and wife Isabelle of Camp Lejeune, NC; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved nephew and hunting buddy Toby Leighton, Jr. of East Bethel; cousin Joshua Piawlock of Bethel; and grandparents Oscar (Roland) Annis and Louise Annis of Bethel, and James and Clare Piawlock of Bethel.
