About the Artist
Gabrielle Castle is a 24-year-old figurative and portrait painter from the western mountains of Maine. Her work blends traditional techniques with contemporary flair, marked by masterful use of color, intricate detailing, and striking composition. Early on, she was introduced to the works of Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Renoir, Sargent, and Degas and found endless inspiration in their mastery. Her vision captures the interplay of light, shadow, color, and expression, crafting compelling narratives through the faces she paints.
Artist Statement – At a Glance
“At a Glance” examines the fleeting, unspoken emotions that define our shared humanity. Through oil portraiture and expressive realism, I seek to capture the subtle interplay of light, color, and form that reveals an inner world. “At a Glance” invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the moments that often go unnoticed—but speak volumes. Emotions that exist for only a second can be witnessed in a painting for a lifetime.
