Wendy S. Lahey
THE VILLAGES, Fla. – Wendy (Sinclair) Lahey of The Villages, Fla. (formerly of Auburn, Lewiston, Wilton, and Old Town) passed away peacefully with her three children by her side on April 30, 2025, at the age of 83.
She was born in Brockton, Mass. on Dec. 20, 1941, the only child to the late John R. Sinclair, Jr. and the late Geraldine Smith Sinclair. Her young years were spent in Lewiston, with summers spent in Auburn on Taylor Pond. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School in 1959 and Westbrook Junior College in 1961.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Robert J. Lahey, Jr. in 1994, and then her husband of 18 years, Ted Lennan in 2021.
Wendy married Bob in 1964, and they were able to celebrate 30 great years before Bob passed away. They had three children, Kathryn, Christopher and Gretchen, whom they raised in Wilton and later in Old Town. She spent 20 years working in several capacities in the Old Town School Department and also played a large part in assisting her husband Bob in administering the athletic activities of the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association which resulted in many wonderful relationships and travels throughout the country. Wendy retired in 1999 and moved from Old Town to their summer home in Auburn where she volunteered at the Central Maine Medical Center.
Wendy moved to The Villages, Fla. in 2002 and immediately became active in the art world, a lifelong desire. She was a talented watercolor artist who was well known for her detailed artwork, especially still life paintings of florals in crystal. Wendy loved traveling to new places, showing her paintings in art shows, being active with all the “Art Hooligans”, and the challenges of puzzles and word games. During her time in The Villages, Fla., she was a member of several clubs including the Fine Arts Society, The Villages Art League, Visual Arts Association, Photography Club, and Scottish-American Club.
“Mother”, “Mom”, “Mumma”, as Wendy’s three children called her, will be deeply missed by her loving children, her grandchildren, the Lahey family, and many close friends.
Wendy was known as the “classy” lady with a caring heart. She taught her children values, discipline, family commitment, and kindness to others. Wendy’s organizational skills and endless lists will never be forgotten. She truly was one of a kind, an amazing and wonderful person her children are beyond proud to call their “Mom”.
She leaves behind her children, Kathryn Lahey Gross and husband David Gross, Christopher Lahey and Gretchen Lahey; and her five grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, Jessica, Victoria, and Wisdom; and her best friend for life, Shirley Jerez.
A Celebration of Life will be held in The Villages, Fla., at a date and time to be determined. An interment will be held on Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn to be reunited with Bob.
